THE PROBLEM OF MESSIANIC JUDAISM
PART 17
A TRAIL OF MESSIANIC ISSUES, CONT.
Some
Messianics make very open issue of Yeshua’s incarnational Jewish identity, then
transpose it to the present to say that, since Yeshua is Jewish, certainly all believers should submit to His culture,
which is that of Old Covenant Judaism. In this they prove that the real issue
underneath Messianism is a human view of Yeshua. We have already exposed and
answered this fundamental problem, but recap the answer here again:
As a pre-glorified
human, Yeshua was most certainly Jewish. However as the pre-existent Eternal
One, Yeshua was not “Jewish,” and now as the glorified Son of God born from the
dead, Yeshua is no longer Jewish
after the flesh. He transcends all adamic races, as does everyone else who is
to be glorified with Him in resurrection.
We are already told
that in Christ is “neither Jew nor Gentile.” In fact, Christ also transcends
gender (neither male nor female), for which cause there is no marriage in
glory, as we know it. If then to be in
Christ, one is no longer Jewish or Gentile, how much more plain is it that He Himself is also neither Jewish nor
Gentile? Christ is as transracial as the Body that He fills.
Paul specifically
says that we no longer know Christ “after
the flesh” (II Cor. 5:16). This means that He is no longer to be recognized
according to His fleshly lineage at the time of His incarnation. The Messianic
appeal to the present human “Jewishness” of Jesus is therefore outside of spiritual
understanding and without merit.50

– PART 18: THE MEANING OF THE RESTORED / FULFILLED TORAH
50 Whether in reference to Christ or to His people, the New Covenant is entirely “lineage blind.” Paul entirely dismisses genealogy (which necessarily includes modern discussions of DNA evidence) as a relevant issue in spiritual discussion (II Tim. 1:3). But Messianism thrives on bloodline debate as bloodline is Messianism’s complete raison d’ etre.
